Pretentious self-posturing

crippling insecurityHello, thank you for visiting Dangerology online. I know I have ignored our (online) relationship, I never even texted you or anything, but I just got into this thing, you know, where I was doing shows every night, and never producing any new work… you know the score.

But there’ll be new stuff coming along. I have a solo exhibition at the Alsager Arts Centre, 9-13 February as part of the Curating Knowledge season. (See page on the sidebar for more information). As usual, I’m interested in interaction, talking to strangers, collaboration, but this time around I’m looking at the theme of school, and how it shapes and defines us. In one year, it’ll be my supposed 10 year reunion. I started thinking about all the ways I could present myself to that old crowd, which has led to an interactive photo series called “In Absentia.” There’ll also be a story-box, scenarios and other interactive games. I especially wanted to give viewers the experience of having, in the gallery, the high school prom they missed or fucked up, so every afternoon from 2-4 there’ll be music and dancing. Come dressed to impress (“this ball gown… or this ball gown..”)* and slow dance with the quarterback, or cheerleader, or math-geek, or teacher. It’ll be a pretty good party.
